Map of Terneuzen

General information

The Port of Terneuzen lies on the Western Scheldt about 30 kilometres from the North Sea. Covering an area of some 2,100 hectares, the port stretches along the river to include the outer Braakman Harbour, site of the chemical complex of Dow Benelux, and up the Gent-Terneuzen Canal as far as Sas van Gent.
About 2,500 seagoing vessels and more than 10,000 inland vessels call at the Port of Terneuzen each year and about 14 million tonnes of cargo is handled, notably forest products, dry bulks, fertilisers and all kind of chemicals, minerals, metals and ores.
The outer Braakman Harbour, on the River Scheldt, site of the vast Dow Chemical complex, can accommodate ships of up to 100,000 dwt while, inside the locks, the five harbours on the east bank of the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal have capacity for ships of up to 80,000 dwt.
Zeeland Seaports has invested in a shortsea and feeder containerterminal and a 30 ha logistics park offering maximum flexibility in terms of modalities.
